We have conducted Health and Environmental Impact Assessments of major interventions and projects in health, mining, petroleum, construction, and agriculture sectors on targeted and beneficiary communities and populations. We also conduct community and population assessments of health policies and interventions to estimate the impact of these policies, projects and programmes on the targeted or beneficiary communities and populations. We work with implementors to understand the effect of policies, projects and programmes on communities and populations being targeted as beneficiaries or who will be impacted by the policy, project or programme.
We work with our clients and the targeted communities to develop the right tools and processes to plan and conduct the assessment to bring out the true facts and to identify the right mitigation strategies to use to address negative effects identified. We are careful to employ each of the six steps of impact assessments – screening, scoping, assessment, recommendations, reporting and monitoring and evaluation – involving both implementors and beneficiaries to achieve the most accurate outcome of that step. Through our work we have helped governments and policy makers optimally determine use of public resources to the benefit of communities targeted for industrial and social interventions and projects. We have worked with private sector to implement major industry projects to minimize the negative public health effects on communities directly and indirectly affected by their projects.
